Change from 4,6l to 5,4l
hello I am Andreas from Germany
I drive 97 f150 with 200.000 mls
1 week ago drivebelt tore and the timing cover destroyed.
Here in Germany this is not to be gotten.
I saw an engine in EBAY USA. can I insert also a 5.4l engine? does the computer have change?
if it drove so much should I better the engine change?!
Thanks
Apology for my bad English greeting Andreas

usually when you switch motors like that, the PCM needs to come with it if you change sizes or pull one from a different model year (if there were a lot of upgrades / changes). so ford europe can't get you parts at all? to buy one from USA & ship to Deutchland would be very expensive. not to mention, taking a huge risk of someone selling you a used motor with issues or it simply doesn't run.
How did you buy the truck? I don't remember seeing any F150s running around Stuttgart last year when I was there...
You might have a better time trying to do a modification: install a Benz Diesel ;-)

In Germany no engine can be found. In the netherlands there is someone who does the motor 3200, - $ 80,000 mls sell. The timing cover there costs 360, - $, used. In USA i see it for 50,-$
Diesel is too high in Germany, the tax.
If I could see so I'll probably still buy one 4.6 liter engine.
In the United States.
I am here in Germany in a van-forum (I have still a 79 dodge b200), a friend from the forum will help me to ship the engine to Germany.
Thank you very much

& with 200,000 miles (not km, correct? I think you were doing the conversions already...) you'd be best to do a full rebuild or find an engine that fits in with that series with lest miles, which it sounds like you are doing. & if you have connections on helping with the shipping, even better for you!
so long as it's a Ford Triton 4.6L V8 roughly around the same model year as the one you got, it should fit. The Tritons are commonly used in the trucks & SUVs. I'm not sure how different or how to get the Mustang version in your truck though, I've never done it. Another car that used a 4.6 was the Crown Victoria / Mercury Grand Marquis but I don't think those cars ever made it to Germany, so those would have to be shipped too.

Yes, exactly, the engine has 200,000 mls.
I now have 2 more people here, written in Germany.
I'm waiting to answer yet.
I now know that the engine has been installed in other vehicles. I would also seek times.
Thanks for all
and as we say in Germany
Guten Rutsch in`s neue Jahr

this may help in picking one from another model line.
I hope someone with lots of experience with the 4.6L will chime in.
