'95 Throttle body / coolant issue - possibly
O.k. need a little help with my '95..
The other day I noticed my truck started leaking coolant. I traced the problem to the throttle body where the coolant passes through the side of the TB. I though at first... o.k. no problem.. just replace the hose... problem was still there. Turns out it was the hard line right at the bend! As I am sure most of you know, you can't just replace that hard line, you have to replace the whole TB. (unless you guys know of some way to make a hard line)
For the moment I have bypassed this coolant passage and it seems to run o.k. I do want to return eventually. Right now I just don't have an extra $400 to replace the TB.
So to make a long story short.. 2 Questions..
1. Short term (or long) will bypassing this hurt the engine? (can't see how it would yet)
2. Anybody replaced this hard tube?
Thanks for any help you may have!
Todd

Yeah, I have thought about doing that. I guess my bigger concern at the moment was damaging the truck by doing the bypass. So far it has been 4 days and no problems. Could be all in my head but it seems to be a little more peppy. haha

Can you fix this tube? I dont know how thick it is, but could you get some rubber fuel line, slide it over the tube using some soapy water and then secure each end with a stainless clamp?

The tube is pressed into the throttle housing or cast with it. Just bypass it. It wont hurt anything and is supposed to be good for a couple of HP.

I agree with NGM it does look to be pressed in.
I thought about sliding the new hose further over the hardline but it will not go over the 90 at all. I really wish I could have slid it past the 90 but seeing all the comments above.... I am happy with doing the bypass.
