Default 6 bolt, or 8 bolt flywheel.

Hello,

Finally found a replacement engine for my 98' F-150, its the windsor model.

Now, how do I tell if its a 6 bolt or 8 bolt before I pull it...Or is this interchangeable?

As I am posting this, doubt comes to mind. I just can't remember anything with more then 6 bolts. Am probably wrong. Call the dealership and ask them about the flywheel, they should be able to come up with the correct part and ask how many bolts does it use. Then go back to this engine and check if its the same.

I guess my real question is, whether or not the engine that I purchase has a 6 or 8 bolt flywheel, will it work either way. As in, will it work with any transmission, or would I have to change the flex plate.

Quick Reply: 6 bolt, or 8 bolt flywheel.
