Default 5.4 3v to 4.6 3v swap?

I'm looking at buying a 2005 F150 with a bad engine. I'm wondering if i can replace the 5.4 3v with a 4.6 3v out of a 2006 explorer. Anybody have any idea what hurdles a guy might run into doing this swap. I know the intakes will be different and i might have to modify the exhaust some but didnt know if all the engine electrical connectors would be the same between the two. Reason for thinking about doing this is a 4.6 is quite a bit cheaper. I'm not to worried about the power differences either. If anybody has done this swap i'd like to hear from them. Thanks!

Sounds like a big job, all the best for a great outcome.

I didn't find anyone referencing a 5.4 to a 4.6 swap, but I did find someone who has done the reverse.

Keep up updated with lots of pics if you go down this path.
