Default 4.6L redline

I am looking to get a tune from edge or a custom one from vmp tuning, not sure yet. My question though is concerning the raising the red line on the vehicle. Currently i have the 4.6L 2v V8, 2004, new body style with a red line of about 5,000 rpms. I was wondering what would be the an acceptable level to raise the red line up to? I know the 4.6L 3v can rev up to 6K but i am not sure how high a 2v can safely be brought up to for extra power.

The 4.6 2v engine has no problem shifting past 6,000, but the truck torque converters are desigened to shift at about 5,000 rpm. With a stock converter, you can safely raise the 1-2,3-3 shift points as long as the shifts will complete by 54-5,500. The 3-4 shift should be 5k or lower.

Above 5700 rpm the torque converter will start to fail.

is this kind of customizing (redlines, shift points, etc.) explained in the directions with the tuner or found in whatever tune you purchase/download?

Same here TX. I looked at tuners where I could get a wideband and adjust some of the stuff myself but eventually went with a Xcal 3 and having it professionally programmed. Could I figure it out? Probably. Would I mess some stuff up while I figured it out? Also quite possible. lol
