i took it to a trusted family friend mechanic who said the #2 cyl had no pressure. He thinks i should find a motor to swap into it. and its got 153k on it, so idk if its even worth doing the top end..

Stay with the friend of the family's advice. Although sure would be nice to know the true extent of failure.

You should at least pop the head and see what is what, it the piston crown is not damaged then I would consider having a head job done, again you should have both head done to keep them even in hours of service.

if the valve is stuck closed it should still have compression. If its stuck open then it wont have compression. But then you should also hear the rocker arm slappin the pushrod unless the pushrod came out from under the rocker arm. I would say same thing if stuck half open. I have also had a piston crack before and no compression. Just removing the valve cover and checking the intake and exhaust valve on that cylinder you should be able to see if something is going on with the valve.
Also I guess alot of ppl dont use this method anymore but you can spot a valve problem with a vac gauge also.
