Just picked up a 1997 Ford F-150 Flareside with a hydrolocked engine. Been researching engine swap options, but have been finding conflicting information. I want to swap in another 4.2 from a newer F-150, but I don't want a '97 engine because of the gasket issues. I also don't want to have to switch intakes. Does this mean that I am looking for a 1998 model 4.2 manufactured after 1/15/98? Would I have to change intakes if I swapped in a '99 4.2?
