going with a blower will cost somewhere i the neighborhood of 5k...and you still have to deal with the stock POS rods and pistons.

a 5.0L mod motor big bore, is quite capable of over 350 at the tires...325-ish is a more mild street setup.

I still don't see a point in spending all that money on trying to make more power out of a 4.6. Why not just supercharge it??
^My thoughts exactly.

Save the time and hassle (and probably $$$$ too) and just get the supercharger.

And how much would that setup cost? Including labor and everything.

labor? whats that? i put in engines myself. I dont pay people to install motors for me.

somwhere around 3k, if all of the parts are acquired as new......But being smart about the parts, will chop down the bottom line..like the block, heads, and cams.

Thats the thing, not many people at all can dig into a motor and know what the hell they are doing.

you didnt understand what I meant....would i have the heads worked? yes....would i have mike tymensky build the bottom end? yes, would i assemble everything else myself? yes.

i dont give hypothetical labor figures on things i do myself....needless to say, he called both SHM and Livernois, any heavy work from them will come at a steep price, very steep price.

To the extent of having the parts and basically having to build a motor, VERY few and so few that I couldn't put a number on it.

Some people MIGHT know what to do but would never even attempt it b/c they have enough ivnested to were there is no point in risking thousands of $$$$ when they could pay a little more and get it done RIGHT.

im not exactly sure why I attempting to explains this.......but I will. A used Teksid block is very easy to find, so are heads, so are cams. Ive only torn apart two engines when I swapped the PI motor in my car.....with the help of a friend. No special people to call or pay thousands of extra cash. Do this, call Livernois tomorrow and ask how much they will charge to supercharge your truck. Claiming that very few people actually do the work themselves makes no sense. When you are the one who is actually spending the money yourself to swap a motor or install a blower or a set of cams, go crunch the numbers and make some calls....and im not saying this to be an ***, have actually done the work, torn into the engines, and laid on my back in a pool of mercon-III while removing a PS pump. When its your money, you can get motivated and start wrenching yourself.

Its a little easier said than done though.

Most people are not mechanically inclined but do know how to do basic things. Others now more and can change out parts like its not big deal. Then there are people who can do anything to a motor or would be able too if they had the tools and time.

Considering that MOST people do not have the skills and ambitions to rip into a very expensive motor and fill it with even more $$$$ only to hope they they did EVERY single step acording the specs or their motor will basically tear itself to pieces. This is why most people WILL pay they extra money for labor b/c all said and done its chump change to what they are risking doing it themselves. Altho this is different in some cases and to some people who do know what they are doing and will tackle and job themselves because they KNOW that they can do the job and do it right.
