2014 F150 - Strange 3rd Gear Behaviour
2014 F150 FX4 screw with 120,000 kms.
I've noticed lately (or just never noticed it before now) that the truck seems to "bog down" once the transmission shifts into 3rd gear, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Basically what happens is as the transmission is shifting through the gears from first, once the transmission hits third gear the RPMs will stop increasing and then drop slightly (around 200-300 RPM) before beginning to increase again. Note that this drop is not caused by the next gear; if the RPMs drop to say 2000 after the 2-3 shift, they will increase to 2200 before dropping back down to 2000 again. Think peak, valley, peak again. You can also audibly hear the motor "struggle" as it goes through this transition. Throttle input doesn't seem to affect it, although I would say it's more noticeable under greater throttle input.
I'm guessing that this symptom/behaviour is not normal, and will be bringing it to the shop's attention at my next service, but I'm curious if anyone has experienced anything similar and/or might have any ideas what could cause this?

I'm pretty sure you're feeling the torque converter lock.
