But you need to start your own thread for that ;-)

If you want it to sound mean then do the 5.0. If you want low end power then get the Eco. Throw a tune on both and the Eco is easily the choice.

Hi all, new here as well, and newbie to pickup trucks.
Looking to get my first one, and test drove two F150's today, an XLT with the 5.0 V8, and an FX4 with the Ecoboost.
The Ecoboost definitely felt a bit smoother. Other than that, I just really liked the FX4 more in general, really nice interior, etc. In fairness, I think the FX4 had the upgraded 402 interior, the larger digital display, heat/cool seats, etc. The XLT did have leather interior, but otherwise seemed a bit plain compared to the FX4..

Anyway, if I decide on the FX4, then I of course need to also decide on taking the one with Ecoboost, or get one with the v8. I've read through all the posts here, and the question I guess I still have is, if I am -not- going to be towing anything....if this will be a daily driver, family truck, used for road trips, winter driving (east coast of Canada).....which should I be getting?
After reading through this thread, despite really liking how the Ecoboost drove, I am wondering if the V8 is a safer bet in terms of reliability and longevity, both which are very important to me.

Thx!

Get what you want. If you like one better than the other, then that's the one to choose. You can't really go wrong with either engine. It's all personal choice. Good luck on your new purchase.

Ford has worked out a lot of the kinks with the Ecoboost, but the 5.0 has been around for years and is their bread and butter. It really comes down to what you prefer. Go with the engine that you preferred to drive.

But the chances of that thread turning into a 5.0 vs Eco cat fight are high...

They came out the same year and I would be willing to bet they sell more EBs...
