2013 Ecoboost or 5.0L V8 ?

22 on a 5.4 at 70mph? Maybe downhill from Mt St. Helens. I'd double check those numbers. Turbos are always spinning unless their seized up. They just need to reach a certain speed before they produce any benefit.

22 is hard to believe on a consistent basis.
On the 5.0 v Eco, I think the thread tells the story. Eco is tons more powerful down low and it's most obvious when towing. 5.0 still a solid motor and less expensive with close to same mpg mixed but ecoboost gets 2 mpg better on steady 60-65 mph speeds per EPA sticker.
Tuned with $500 tuner, well the disparity increases and makes the 5.0 look like a much weaker engine until you bolt on a $6500 supercharger ftw.

I've got 80K on my 2011 ecoboost. It averages at 19 mpg (no towing). I like the engine, but it was not built to last! The big problem with it is that a LOT of oil blows past the rings. I recently installed 2 oil catch-cans and routinely find a tablespoon of oil in them daily. Without the cans, that oil and crap dumps right back into the intake! That means that the Ford engineers are stupid (doubtful) or that Ford doesn't care about their truck's longevity.

I'm not hating, or baiting, just emphasizing a positive to go with the negative.
I have not towed my trailer at these elevations with a 5.0, but the torque curves don't lie.

I do not live anywhere near 10,000 feet and do not own anything that I would tow that weighs 8000lbs. If I had that need, I would more than likely be driving a 250 with the PSD. The fact that my EB would shut down when raining or humid negates any positive the engine may have. It is a serious safety concern for me to have the truck shut down when my family is in it. I don't care if it will tow 50,000 lbs at 1000 RPMs if I cannot rely on the power when needed. The 5.0 is more engine than I really "need". Truth be known the NA V6 would be capable of handling anything I would ask of it. The fact that the 2015 EB F150's will have active grill vanes in front of the intercooler shows that Ford is still trying to correct this issue. I would have never bought the EB in the first place but the dealer had the exact truck I wanted with the EB rather than the 5.0 that they made the deal good enough for me to try it. If I would have known then what I know now, I would have special ordered the 5.0 and waited the 6 weeks.
