2013 Ecoboost or 5.0L V8 ?

I traded my 08 duramax for my 13 ecoboost. Ive heard stories, but i have had no issues at all so far. It pulls great. My boat loade dis about 5500-6000 pounds. I took my boat up to the dealer and hooked up to the 5.0, then the ecoboost. I tow allot, atleast 3 days a week if not more. The 5.0 did pull it, but the ecoboost had better pulling power than the 5.0. Both are fine trucks. The 6.2 is a beast but i dont think you will get the milage if that means anything. We looked at the 6.2 but on the test drive i knew it wasnt for me, i liked it but just knew my milage would be crappy. I sold a truck getting 10-12 so i idnt want another like that. Good luck in your find and post up when you do bite the bullet.

I actually talked to a buddy who is a Ford Mechanic. Started off talking about my 5.4L, and then I started talking about trading it and what is easier to work on and is a better quality engine? He immediately said the 5.0 because the motor is basic and you get the same amount of power like the eco boost.

Peak numbers don't matter unless you drive around at 5500 rpm all day. Area under the torque curve wins every time. I would take 50 less peak hp if it is available at 1500 rpm vs 5500. On a truck? Darn right. On a track car not so likely.
OP for towing occasionally heavy loads but mainly for highway use the eco is great. For a person who tows near 10,000 lbs often or even semi often you can't beat the safety and comfort of a 3/4 ton. Even the best equipped 1/2 ton can't match it.

Not starting a war but, your mechanic is so wrong. I hope you don't let him work on much more than a lawn mower.
