2012 F150 FX4 going on 4th pinion bearing in under 46k miles!

Paul - I have never heard of that and I am an old guy. It is possible to get water in the housing though. All housings must be vented. The vent on my 2011 is a nipple on the drivers side (I think). It is connected to a hose that goes up into the frame or somewhere else high to prevent water getting into it. The front differential is the same way.
I'm assuming a service dept. would know right away if there was water intrusion. My (gear) oil bath hubs on a previous boat trailer would get a milky hue to them when water infiltrated them, so I'd expect the same in my differential.

Yes. The oil will not look normal. I'm not saying it did not get wet. I'm saying I never heard of condensation making it wet.
Water is heavy. The further you put something into water, the higher the pressure is. Ears popping, etc. Its why boat trailers now come with the spring loaded hubs.
