Hey All,

Im sorry to say i just bought a used "mint" 2011 f150 5.0 lariat 4x4. 62k miles. After one week i notice the intermittent knock, it comes and goes, not very loud. Now that I have read all these threads and have no warranty I am very concerned. Wondering if federal lemon law can work in my favor if I choose to pursue a solution.......Also the noise is coming from passenger side

Default mine does the same

I have had my 2012 F150 with about 35,000 miles into 2 different dealers one twice and the other once. It makes the exact same noise as nix150 videos. The 1st time in they couldn't get it to make the noise. The 2nd time they could hear it but considered it normal. So i took to a different dealer where they performed a TSB 14-0156. Had for 4 days. Mechanic tells me he drove around for a good 20 minutes after and sounded fine. I started up and let run for a while before leaving and sounded fine. Had a roughly 30 mile drive home, pulled into garage, SAME DAMN NOISE!!!

I'm here to help, djsitz. Please send me a private message with your full name, VIN, servicing dealership, and best daytime contact number. I'll get this escalated to the regional customer service manager for your area; they'll work with you and the dealer to reach the best resolution.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Brittany

ok so here's a video. Sorry no picture really but the first shot is from the engine compartment with the hood up the second and third under the fender well.sounds louder on the passenger side. 2011 F150 57,000 miles 5.0. Does this sound like the timing tensioners or a/c belt tensioners

Yep, I got it...and sent a reply. You need to tell the service folks, thru a Ford Regional Rep. to do an isolated cylinder check...it will tell them exactly what cylinder is defective.

mine was the #8 cylinder..took the load off of it and noise stopped. replaced engine a few weeks ago and so far so good..BUT now my back window defroster doesn't work the day I pull it out of the shop..they say its the grid in the window..a $1045 fix..im very doubtful..now is over warranty and comes out of my pocket cuz I have no way to prove it was in working order when I brought it in..I think its in the wiring or something when they replaced the engine..back window gets replaced next week and if that doesnt fix the problem ford better stand behind it or it will be time to seek an attorney..six trips to the shop and still not the way it was

I finally got my 2012 into the dealer and they've had it for almost 3 wks. Finally got the news today that one of the cylinders is oblong and the head shows signs of getting insufficient oil. Ford engineers have been involved and I found out today the dealer is going to be dropping in a new long block next week... Rather than a new short block and rebuilding the head. Waiting another week doesn't have me excited but I'm glad they are taking care of the issue. Very happy with my service at Sharpnack Ford in Willard, OH.

I think the more we get people on the boards and forums with this issue the more Ford can't deny they haven't heard of it.every customer service rep I've talked to has denied any knowledge of bad blocks or timing chain problems or knocks.kind of hard to believe when all you have to do is Google it. Mine is still at the dealership getting worked on. I'll call tomorrow to see if they pinpointed my issue

So far with only 13,000 miles on my 2013, it is surprisingly very quiet. I especially took time to listen yesterday.
I could post a video, but there is absolutely nothing to hear.
After having people ask me, "what's wrong with your engine?" in the 05, from the day it was new. Due to those wonderful cam phasers.
I'm highly sensitive now to faintest noises. Almost expecting a knock any day now.
Hopefully not!
