Just comparing this thread to another one that was started on another f150 forum. Same crap different username, he even claims that RRSkinner isn't him. Oh well the internet rolls on without him.

MPG
These numbers are my experience with an ecoboost 3.5 and may be a factor in your choosing between the 2 engines:
In the past 3 summers we have been to Newfoundland, Alaska and California pulling a travel trailer. Here's the mileage numbers we are getting with a 3.5 ecoboost, max tow, 8 ft bed, 3.73, XL 2011. As gas expense is an important part of our budget, I monitor the gas used. NB. 25 ft. trailer weighs 5200 lbs loaded
8-10 mpg against wind rarely 10-12, all highway. Nb. started out as 7-8 mpg and improved somewhat in the first trip
20-22 mpg no trailer, all highway
16-18 mixed use around city/highway
Outstanding power and ride with one exception. Smoothness of transmission and possible shifting problem fixed with $760 . Covered in warranty but possible problem down the road.
