2009 5.4 - Rich upon cold startup
My truck runs rich/smells when started cold. The rich odor is strong and I smell it coming through the A/C. At that point I usually hurry to get out of the garage so not to stink up the house.
Truck has 93K miles. Runs just fine and mpg's have been in the high 16's in town. Only thing that might be a clue is right after I start it and the rpm's simmer down to around 1100 that it has a very light miss. Goes away when it simmer's down below that.
Want to see if this is normal before I start throwing money at it (no tuneup done yet). I thought I read somewhere about the 5.0 or 3.5's doing the same thing is the reason I ask to warm up the catalytic conv.
Otherwise, who knows if its plugs, leaky injector or what.
Anyone else experience this or have any issues with their 5.4? Thanks.
