Default supercharger

I really said that wrong. It's only my opinion about superchargers when I say they really aren't for towing. Based on the torque and horsepower curves the rpm range where a supercharger has all the boost seems to be too high to help much when towing. I don't think it will hurt anything though. I could be all wrong so let's hear from those that have tried it.

if you want to blow money on toasting your transmission, then go for an Edge tuner. If you want your truck tuned properly, get an Xcal2 or Livewire.

With a centrifugal supercharger(Paxton, Vortech, Powerdyne, etc.), you are absolutely right. They produce more boost as their impeller RPM rises, therefore your torque and horsepower range is higher in the RPM band.

A positive displacement supercharger(Roush, Kenne Bell, Saleen, etc.) produces the same amount of boost per engine revolution, therefore in the lower RPM range(like towing) you have more of it's torque available from idle to get your vehicle moving.

IMHO, a positive displacement supercharger on a gas engine would be ideal for towing.

I Have An Edge Evolution On My 06 5.4 4x4. I Was Getting 11.8 Mpg In The City And 15.6 On The Highway. I Put The Edge On The Truck Woke Up. It Now Gets Between 13 And 15 Mpg In The Cuty And Between 16 And 19 On The Highway, Depending Where My Foot Is Positioned. Dont Get Me Wrong I Like My Ford, But I Wish It Had The Power My 4 Door Chevy Had. I Also Wish It Got The Gas Mileage My Chevy Got. I Guess I'll Have To Live With It Until My Wife Allows Me, And Yes I Put Allows Me, Too Buy A Desiel.

I said the same thing Szam. I added a K&N Cold Air Intake and I replaced the stock exhaust with a Borla. Replaced the pipes from the cats with 3" pipe.
You will definitely feel the difference. Never added a tuner but I'm guessing that would also help.
Trust me, you're not the only one with poor performance from these 5.4's.

ford stopped putting good engines in their truck back in 1997 when they switched from a windsor engine to the modular 4.6 and so forth.
