I know it's a late post, but if you find anything to help, I'd like to do the same thing to '04 3V truck. This thing's a dog.

if you want less power, poor mileage, inefficiency, and a headache, get the 460. Fitting the motor will be the least of your concerns. What about the electrical system? have you considered the power steering? AC? custom driveshaft?

Amen to that. I'd like the 460 because 365 lb-ft is not enough to push around 5000 lbs and for 331cid, these motors are pretty hot from the factory. Not too much more reliable power. And, I want more power, better mileage, more efficency, and less headache. One cool factor is FoMoCo also produced a vehicle by the name of Lincoln, complete with power steering, air, and brakes. Late '70's FT motors are low compression versions so a turbo complements it very nice. Follow that with a C-6 and a Gear Vendors O/D, you can tow Amarillo at 70 w/ the air on. I looking for any info on a swap kit. I'm not too far off of installing a 500cid Caddy motor/200R-4 in my dad's '96 C1500, so I'll steer clear from as much fabrication as I can.
