Default 2000 5.4: does the engine block have a serial # ?

Years ago, Ford stamped the VIN on their blocks. Was wondering if a 2000 5.4 engine is stamped with serial numbers that correspond to the vehicle. Is there any engine ID stampings? In this case an Expedition.

Never ever heard of VIN #'s on block, only casting and production #'s for identification purposes. Come on you old guys, help out here, put down your drink and offer up some input for the gentleman. Mother, another beer please! Just kidding, my mother would hand me an empty.
