14' FX4 4x4 low light on, transmission won't engage, rear end locked up.
Got stuck in the snow, after a bit of rocking back and forth from 1st and reverse in 4 low, all the tires stopped turning, the gear shift will move, but won't engage into any gear. Despite, disengagement of 4 low, 4 high even 2wd nothing happens. After pulling the pick up out with another vehicle, I noticed that the rear wheels were locked up.
Pick up is up in the mountains, no cell service and a nice 16 mile walk until I could call for a ride. Good times.
Any advice, ideas or help is greatly appreciated. I plan on calling a tow truck if needed.

It sounds like the transfer case chain broke. My guess is the chain is wrapped up in the case and has the rear output shaft jammed.
