Default Glittery Oil and Sounds Like A Woodpecker

So, My 97 4.6 started ticking a while back. Im not too experienced with internal engine stuff so I havent had much luck coming up with a reasonable conclusion as to what it is. Sounds like a woodpecker or kinda like you stuck a stick in a fan. Usually idles fine cold or hot. The noise starts at about 2500 rpm and goes away at about 3-4k. No idea... I took an oil sample and it has a lot of really fine glitter. Ive asked around and I get something different every time.

I had just dumped some water out of the catch pan but there was still a little water in it. I dont think it really affected the appearance though.
