cranks won't start, most of dash not working
I know there are lots of cranks no start posts, but I've run into a peculiar bug that I cannot seem to locate. This is on a truck I bought used to fix up for my son. Here are the details I have so far
1999 f250 light duty, 5.4L auto, 2wd
there is fuel in the fuel rail, I can hear the fuel pump turn on at key
battery is new, I replaced this after the one that was in it when I bought it died
replaced the starter solenoid thinking there was a possible short there
the only dash function that happens is the battery light, no gauge sweeps and not even dashes on the odometer
as I have been trying to track down fuel pump/pcm fuses etc, I have discovered that the engine bay and in cab fuse blocks are laid out like an f150. I was only able to find the fuses using the manuals for both trucks to identify which fuses are where. All the fuses look ok.
I last drove the truck about 3 weeks ago before the battery died.
I expect I am missing something simple somewhere, but I don't have a clue where to check. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks for your help. peace...
