5.4 L engine compatibility question
I have a 2008 Ford Triton 5.4L 330 CID8 cylinder Flex:7G-600BA BB engine that needs to be replaced. I found a engine from an 2006 expedition 5.4L V8. i do not access to the expedition for vin to compare engines.
how can i verify that the that the engine will or will not fit. any helpl would be apperciated.
thanks chris

assuming everything is fine with your current engine - injectors, top end stuff, etc....you can swap a lot of that over. The engine you will be getting might or might not come with everything....intake, front accessories, etc....One of your best bets is to swap over the timing cover, pan, etc....new seals are cheap. Put in new plugs and maybe cam phasers and use as much of your current F150 parts as possible, aside from the block, heads, manifold. Go ahead and swap over all of your exhaust components, too. The 3V engines in the truck applications are pretty standardized across the board.
Before you order the Expy motor, check car-part.com and see if an 08 F150 motor is available, just for good measure. You might find a lower mileage one or one you could easily pick up. It wouldnt hurt to look up your local LKQ.

something you may want to know:
my son's f150 started running rough, and check engine light with codes 303, 304, 306, 340, and 344.
changed cam sensors, and put in new plugs. still ran bad. took to ford dealer. he verified codes and added another code, bad coil #4 cylinder. he reccommended engine replacement, end of his story.
i've been studying forums and considering replacing cam chains, tensioners, phasers, and possible VCT solenoids. then i run accross this expiditon motor for $900. i'm not even certain doing the cam stuff will fix the probelm and clear codes.
sure would value your appenion. seems like you been there.
