Default superchips 1865 question

I bought that tuner for my 2005 -5.4, which I thought made it vin locked once I started using it.
Well after its been sitting around for a year, now that I have my 2013 5.0. I hooked it up to my computer for the hell of it and not only has superchips website gotten a 1000x better, it upgraded my tuner for 20 mins. I put in my current specs and it's saying it's not vin locked anymore.
So I was just curious before I call them or plug it into my new truck, any chance this thing might actually work?
I do see there's a 1840 model for ford gas engines. Wonder if that is for the 5.0 instead.
Any insight would be cool.
Thanks.

Hi.

Well, it might, if the Application Guide tab on this page is any indication.

Best bet, before hooking it up, is to call Superchips Tech Support, give them yer truck details and the boxcode from the label on the PCM. They may or may not have included updates to support yer specific PCM strategy (yet).

The device itself should tell you if it will support your PCM or not, if you decide to just try it. If not, no programming will occur.

Good luck

An update ; 1st, it is still locked, secondly it will work. Lastly which I already knew, it's a $100 bucks to unlock it. Think I'll wait till the new truck honeymoon is over before I blow another $100.
Besides I'm not having any issues like I did with my 5.4.

Hey.

Thanks for posting this feedback. Appreciate it!

Sorry to hear about the locked device. I do so wish the programmer folks would charge less to unlock these things. I think it would promote more brand loyalty, myself.

Cheers

I agree. I could see if I sold it, then sure charge the next guy a $100, but I already gave you $300+dollars and I paid for a couple custom tunes.
I don't know, just seems steep is all.

Mine was supposed to be unlocked when I bought it, I didn't install, went to Korea, came back after a year and low and behold it's locked. I called Superchips, explained my situation, they one time unlocked it free for me. I think part of it was I told them if I couldn't use it I was going to send it back to them and never buy from them again. This was my third flashpaq

Update.......I installed the 87 octane tune today and it definatly made the throttle more responsive and added a little pep to her step. Doing my exhaust tomorrow should really wake the truck up some.
