Hwy guys i got a 2014 f150 and ive been hearing of guys putting straight pipes on there trucks and tgere was a guy that came in with a 2012 f150 with straight pipes and he said he hasnt had any problems with warranty yet and i was wondering if its true and if it is would it wreck the valves. Ive heard it does but im not sure

Based on the "Magnuson-Moss Act", a manufacture cannot void a warranty based on aftermarket parts unless that part had a direct cause in the damage which was caused. Adding. An after market exhaust from the headers to the tail pipe will not void the warranty.

If you added a super charger or after market turbos, tune, internal engine stuff like cams the. Yes it can and will be voided.

Tunes are in the gray area because you could re-flash the truck back to stock and it would put it on the dealership to find out if you did tune the truck. Some say it cannot be detected, others say it can.

Straight pipes shouldn't void your warranty except for your exhaust piping only since it's not factory. To ask them to replace an aftermarket exhaust under warranty is just assenine. If you do straight pipes, make sure you put the proper size on there. Exhaust piping is supposed to have a scavenging effect that aids in pulling those gases out of your cylinder. Too big and it won't scavenge, too small and it will reduce the effect as well.

It affects your warranty in the fact that to get the engine running right and getting rid of the CEL you will need a tune which will give Ford pretty much a smoking gun in claiming any void of warrantees.

All this huff and puff about Ford having to prove this and that is just plain stupid. Just like "innocent till proven guilty" it's more like "innocent till you prove you're not guilty".

You'll need to do a lot of work and maybe even sue to get stuff done if Ford refuses to honor anything because of aftermarket mods.

In short, theoretically it will void your warrantee and it will be in your best mental interest to just assume your warrantee is voided by doing a tune. Then if Ford honors your warrantee then great. If not then at least you expected that lol.

Depends on the set up and what people are calling straight pipes. If the cats are still there, then there shouldn't be a problem with CEL. The exhaust will be aftermarket, therefore ford will not cover it. It's not that hard to do this. Most dual exhaust have crossovers (x-pipe, h-pipe). If it's straight piped individually out the back with no resonator then i would expect done in the cab.

It will be up to the service department how far they want to try and push any warranty work. They are the start of the process.
