Default Engine Swap Question - 4.6

Hey guys, I had a quick question. Unfortunately I believe my 04 f150 that I just purchased needs a new(used) motor. I have zero compression on cylinders number 3 and 8 and it's causing me all sorts of issues. With 200,100 miles on it, I don't believe that it is worth it to try and fix the issue with this motor. Especially when I can get a used one for about the price it would be to fix this one and that would only be patching it up.

Anyways, my question is about another 4.6. I have the 4.6 romeo (w vin) in my truck now and I am looking at a 4.6 out of a 2005 crown vic police interceptor(also a vin w). Will this engine swap right into my truck? How much will I need from the crown vic to make it work? Will the transmission on my truck bolt right up the the block from the crown vic or will I be looking for a transmission also?

Thanks for any and all help. This is the truck I have always wanted but I've barely owned it a month and I already need a block for it. I figured I would need one in a few years, but certainly not this quick. Just trying to get it running right and not shell out a ton of cash after having purchased it.

Find out if you have a 6 or 8 bolt flywheel. Just swapped my motor not to long ago and I think the mechanic that swapped em didn't notice that difference so now the torque converter sounds like it's grinding on the flywheel. But the car to truck swap should work. If they're both Romeo blocks, shouldn't be any difference in measurements.

I believe I have the 6 bolt crankshaft with a Romeo block. I purchased a block from a yard here in town that came out of a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. The guy who owns the yard knows quite a bit and he said it should fit right into mine once we change the intake and exhaust manifolds. Hopefully this is the case. After looking at it, looks like I'll have to change the fuel injectors over too, though I wish I could use the ones from the mercury.

I know this post is a little old but i'm doing what you are talking about.

Car 4.6 the differences I've run across so far. Ok let me back up a second. Obviously you would need to change almost everything, Intake, Exhaust manifolds, Timing cover, Valve covers, oil pan, oil pump screen. Then the things that are different but you don't catch right away. Car block does not have the dowels in the back to align transmission, you have to buy or pull your old ones. The timing cover on the truck has dowels in it, the car block has the dowels in it. So I pulled the dowels out of the truck timing cover. Flywheel is different converter bolt pattern, same size and shape but different converter bolt spread. Cylinder head temp sensor, the connector is different, swap the one from the truck to the car engine.

Good luck

Oh my engine was a Romeo 6 bolt crank and the Crown Vic was also. Same block/crank/heads numbers.
