Default 6 or 8 bolt flywheel

I have a 97 with a 4.6L windsor engine. I need to know if it is a 6 or 8 bolt. Does anybody know if i pull the starter will i be able to see or count those bolts?

No, pretty sure the only way to see those bolts is by having the transmission out and likely the torque convertor off.

Romeo - 6 bolt. Windsor - 8 bolt.

Also, romeo engines have 11 bolt valvecovers, windors have 13. Driverside oil fill is romeo, passenger side is windsor.

However if you had one with a 6 bolt and needed a new crank you would have had to switch to an 8 bolt crank and flywheel because they superceded all the 6 bolt stuff.
