water pump heater tube
I'm replacing the water pump on a 2000 f150 with 4.2 liter. The heater/ bypass tube is giving me a fit. I cant get the new o-ring to go down into the pump. It slides up to the flange and wont seal. Is there a special tool needed ?

heater/water pump return pipe
Problem solved. The pipe was faulty. The o-ring retainer [shoulder]was rotted off. It was so smooth on the end, that looking at the pipe didn't show where the shouder was missing. I feel plenty dumb right now. If I would have looked up the part [dorman626211] picture. Several hours of frustration could have been avoided. picture clearly shows the retainer bump on the end of the pipe.
