4.2 worthy of upgrading???
I've been debating for the longest of times. Is this engine even worth upgrading with a few performance parts for that little *ummfff*
Potential list if i were to go with it:
Exhaust (deepest possible)
Famaous CAI (is that ebay one ok?)
Maybe new throttle body w/ longer bore
Programmer
Anything cuz eventually i would like to put some 285's

The only one of those that will really do anything noticeable is tuner (i guess there's some for the 4.2?) sure CAI and exhaust definitely don't hurt, and they're cool to have, but if the sole purpose is for performance its a waste.

I could be wrong but before I popped my 4.2 out I was doing some research and was understanding that the sc off of a v6 mustang was a relatively compatible swap of course a tune would be needed but pretty quick and pretty cheap upgrade as ive seen take-offs on craigslist for a hundred to two hundred bucks. and some 4:10 gears which believe it or not actually improved my mileage rather than hurting it as it kept me closer to my power band therefore less throttle movement.

Yeah gears are a good mod for acceleration. Idk what you have now but I'd go 3:73 or 4:10s, always seemed like the best mpg acceleration trade off to me

If you want big power gains, look into supersixmotorsports.com. They made a 10 second v6 mustang.
They've got all kinds of performance parts specifically for ford v6s. From bigger cams, to ported heads, all the way up to an M112 Supercharger adapter. They even have full on long blocks ready to put in. It's a bit of money, but they're talking some serious power. They also sell "powerpaks" which are kits designed to be installed together to complement each other, and add lots of power.
