So I found this thread to make a nasty confession. I am in love with this truck so far. I had some major changes come about in my life, my wife got pregnant in July, and we had just bought her a used 07 GT Cali Special Mustang, I have loved my 2010 4.6 3v since I bought it back in 11 after coming home from afghan. That truck had everything on it. 2 HBS leveler, 295/70R17's nitto trail grapplers, custom dash kit, halo projectors, every incandescent bulb was an LED, even the interior. Had a loud *** 40 series dumped exhaust on it (sounded like heaven) and here's where I parted with both it, and the mustang. On the day before thanksgiving, my TQ converter **** the bed hard on my old 6R80. Ford wanted $5000 cash for a new one, so Instead, I traded both for a quiet little stripped down XLT 3.7. My old 4.6 got about 9.4MPG on a bad day and 11-12 on the hwy, tires exhaust intake did it in for me! So far a combined of city and hwy driving I'm getting 16.4 and I don't even care if this is less than advertised, it is way better than what I am used too! Really wanted that 5.0 4X4 but not the accompanying payments lol! Glad to be a part of the 3.7 mafia, may my loud buck rider find a new proper home

my 3.7 is fantastic at all levels of driving ! Up mountains the engine
makes a seamless decision on gears and has no issue on power!
In fact i was again suprised at how it tackled a long steep grade!
Luv in the ride !

Took one of mine thru the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky. Most pleasant drive yet. Plenty of get up and go.

I have a 2014 STX screw with the 3.7, and I really like it. Its my daily driver, plus I do not really haul anything. It has the tow package and a 3.73 rear gear. I get close to 18.5 in town and on a trip to Charleston SC I got 23mpg. First new vehicle I have bought in almost 10 years. The truck is Tuxedo black.

I know this is a old thread but I had to respond anyway. I love my 3.7 but probably would not even consider if I lived in the mountains. Did you not test drive it first to see how it performed. I test drove mine home hooked up a 6,000
Pound trailer and drove about 20 miles . I was very pleased with the performance but I live in the flat land. Most of the time equipment is just not sized right according to the job or our personal preference. Also smaller high revving engines respond negatively too increased tire size as well.

3.7L. handles heavy loads (1000 lbs. +) in the Box quite OK but can't beats the EB for towing the loaded trailer across town or out into the sticks. Tote 650 lbs. + 250 miles is an average load for ours on a daily basis. 4X2 and 3.7L work exceedingly well while 4X4 and 3.5L EB are built for each other.

I am very happy with my 3.7L STX. I needed a full size truck to handle yardwork and hauling junk to the dump. I also pull a 2000 LB boat a couple times per week without any issues. Gets great mileage for a full size truck, since I commute nearly 40 miles per day. I opted for the REG cab 2WD knowing my intended use for the V6.
