Ok I am a happy 3.7 owner. It is a RPM Lovers dream . Low end Lugers won't like it. Even my 6.0 GMC Gas was not a Lugger but no where as fun to drive as the 3.7

Question: if I go from the stock 235/75/17 to 265/70/17 How much of a Performance Penalty am I looking at.?. Is it noticeable ?

I have 3.73 Gears

FYI. I have towed on flat land only so far up to 6,000 pounds with no issues.
The truck does not strain but you know the load is there and while the acceleration loaded is fine for me I still would not pull out in front of a Semi.

It is really hard to compare this engine to any V8 I have ever owned. I have never had a V8 that would rev so freely to 7000 and sound so good doing it.
This 3.7 setup is not for everybody. If you drive like a old Grand Pa you will never really be able to appreciate this engine. If you know that on a regular basis you will tow more than 6000 in the mountains than this engine would not be my first choice. I Love my 3.7 F150 It is down right surprising merging on to the Interstate but you got to let her breath . Fist time and I was. WOW

The weight difference would be fairly negligible if you stayed with a P-Metric tire.

Yes stayed with p-metric tire-
* remember adding weight is adding weight. Not many people actually
compare tire weight when adding larger tires- or changing from
street to say a mud tire. There is grunt work involved in get the
truck moving and A Toyo mud vs nitto a/t weigh different.
Just saying...for those who want bigger tires...
gearing plays a role, and the math does too!

Do some research and you will find that even adding a spacer
will push the tire weight out ...Harder on the engine to get moving.
* think of holding 10lbs with your arm bent next to your chest...
vs. holding your arm straight out. doesnt feel like the same 10 pounds.
And bet you will get tired faster with your arm straight out!
so does an engine....

well i did the deed . We had a trip to md last week when they were calling for snow so i found this a good excuse for new tires. no pics yet as truck is nasty
but went with 265/70/17 goodyear hp
p metric tires.

they r 4 more pounds each according to specs. i will post a before and after picture sunday i hope . no real loss of power that i notice except for a little harder to squel on command but have not tried that hard either with new tires.

will tow some tomorrow and report that too

I went with 285/70/17 (almost 33's) and didn't notice a change in power or towing capacity.I lost some MPG but I expected that.

Went from the stock 235 to 285.

Truck was showing 12L/100km with the stock tires and now getting 17L/100km.
Keep in mind I did the change just before winter, and its been a cold one, I expect to be around 15L/100km once the weather returns above zero.
