Default Ecoboost intercooler condensation issue, verifiable facts

I'm trying to get a better feel for how wide-spread the CAC water issue is.
As the title says, facts with citations only, no opinions, no heresay.

I'll start:

– Sales of Ford F-150 with EcoBoost® – launched less than three years ago – have already topped 400,000 units in the United States.
http://corporate.ford.com/news-cente...million-gallon

Now that we know how many engines are out there, how many of them are having this problem? 100 ? 1000? 10000?

If you have any verifiable info on this, please post it up.

Please stay on-topic. If you can't cite the source of your information, please don't post.

This from http://blog.caranddriver.com/nhtsa-l...s-report-says/
Automotive News claims that 95 complaints have been filed with the NHTSA, and that a third of those incidents reportedly occurred in humid or rainy weather.
Looks like we're up to 95 so far (or 0.0235%)

I think you'll find its not as widespread as its made out to be.

It was also terribly mis-diagnosed in the beginning.

All of the Ford V6 EcoBust engines are subject to the problem of condensation pooling at the bottom of the CAC endcap, Mother Nature is solely in charge of "if" or "when".

I hate to say it, but there is much better information out there than corporate announcements.

I'd love to have access to that database, though.

My 2013 EB was built in September, a month after the response letter in the link. Hopefully changes in production/service as indicated in the letter, will solve the problem.

It appears that 13s are still having the issue, if less often.

Yea, my hope is that by the 2nd half of production year 2013 they have some resolution. I'll be doing some towing in the coming months, if it's in the rain I'll be looking out and report back.

If I recall correctly, whatever changes they made were in position long before that letter was sent. I don't think any changes to the CAC was made mid production in 2013.
