Lifted ecoboost mileage

I've got an ecoboost. Stock. 2013. 3.55 gears. As high as 27mpg on a trip from San Diego to Los Angeles at 65mph. Gets 24mpg doing 65 on trips to the bay area and back. Gets 19.5 or so doing 80mph on long trips.
I think I'll leave the level and tires stock. I bought it to get good mileage out of it. It's working so far. 11,000 miles and I'd do it again and again.

BTW..did you happen to notice if it got better mileage after 5,000 miles?

I live in Escondido. I make regular trips from here to LaHabra to order and pick up seats for my van business.
When the truck had about two thousand miles on it I got on the freeway here, I reset the avg miles per gallon, set the cruise at 65 and turned on the miles to empty so I wouldn't be watching the mpg indicator. If traffic slows, I slow. If it speeds up I go back to 65. Got off the 57 freeway at the Imperial Hiway and the avg mpg was at 25.7. Did the same trip a couple months later with about 8,000 miles on the truck and it read 27.
I only use top tier fuel. Regular only. Chevron, shell, exxon, 76 or mobil.
I use Mobil 1 5/20 oil. I know it says to use 5/30 but the temps aren't that hot and the oil pressure is the same as the factory 5/30.
Tires at 42lbs.
I can easily kill the avg by wanting to hear the turbos. But I don't do that on trips.
I have the cheaper gauge package that doesn't show the miles driven and mpg at the same time.
Driving around town and using the freeway for the past 3,000 miles or so the gauge now says 20.1.

Reset the gauge again today leaving San Diego. Got to San Juan Capistrano and the gauge said 26.7. Got off the freeway to let off my guys at a dealership to install a couple windows. Got back on the freeway and up to cruising speed, 65, and the reading was 25.4. Got off the freeway at the 57 and Imperial Hiway and it said 26.3.
16 street miles to my supplier and back to the 57 and back up to 65 and it read 25.3.
By the time I was back at the 5 it was at 25.9.
Crazy happy with this truck. And no you can't have it.
Yokev, down by the river in a van, I make this trip several times a month it seems like. I'll be heading back on friday or monday if you want to tag along to check it out.
I'll PM you also.

I've got a 2013 with 6 inch lift and 35's with 3.55 rear end. I have no problem with power or performance, but I am suffering from 12.2 mpg. Next truck will have 4.10 if I can get it. Bought my truck this way and just assumed based on the hype I would get around 14.

I actually read several mag articles before I bought mine back in fall '12, and they all remarked about its 'great' fuel mileage back then.
Of course at the time, the F150 was the newest update on the market.
I find it hilarious now that the Dodge and GM have been redesigned, the very same magazines that previously rated the F150 'number 1' and reported it getting stellar mileage, complain that the Ecoboost gets no better mileage than the 5L, and use the ****-poor mileage as a reason for the F150 falling behind the Dodge and GM in their current comparisons.
Common sense dictates that in complaining of the Ecoboost's sub-par mileage, they'd mention the fact that in their '11-'12 review(s) the very same model got 3mpg better(13mpg in their current review, and 16mpg in their earlier reviews), but they act as though their current review was the first and only time they calculated the fricken thing's fuel mileage.
I also found it ironic that these same mags always rank the truck with the latest update(s) number one, and the oldest truck last.
Currently the redesigned GM 1500 is ranked number one, last year it was the Dodge when it got updated, and before that obviously the then-new F150.
I think it's fairly obvious that they're simply not wanting to bite the hand that feeds 'em.
Having said all that however, your 12mpg while running 35s is actually pretty good, comparatively speaking.
I'm currently running 33s with 3:73 gearing(11.5mpg average), and when I previously had 35s installed, I kept having to reset my mileage indicator when it'd hit 10mpg on the way down, as I wouldn't have been able to stomach seeing the freaking thing getting mileage in the single-digits. Sitting here now, I wish I would've let it go at least once however, so I could've seen where it actually did bottom out, even if it would've kept going down to 8mpg or worse.
I recently bought a new Golf TDI, and the money I'm saving on fuel every month by driving that thing during the week not only pays for it, if I don't drive any more than I did last year, it will put $200 in my pocket every month.
It's also allowed me to only drive the F150 when freeway travel is involved, which has brought up the average mileage on that thing as well.

I have a 12 FX2 SCrew 3.73 gears. Even when stock on a trip to Vegas from Texas the best we could do on the highway was 19MPG and that was reset when we switched drivers. Cruise control at 70MPH on I40 for 16 hours and the best I could get was 19MPG.
I put a Hellbent leveling kit up front which I believe was a 2.5" lift in the front just to level the truck out, nothing in the back. Went one size up from stock tires. Stock are 275/55R20 I went up to 275/60R20 Cooper Discoverers. Yes they are AT tires, but they are the same width maybe a hair bigger than stock and weigh a little bit more maybe.
I'm now getting 14.7 MPG city/highway mix to and from my job everyday. I don't romp on it I actually drive pretty slow compared to what I used to drive in my G35. My father in law has an '11 Raptor and gets 13.8MPG...
In conclusion I'm not the least bit happy with the EcoBoost when I'm getting 1MPG better than a 6.2L Raptor that is heavier, lifted, and running 35's..
Really wish I would have kept my paid off G35 and slapped a twin turbo setup on it instead.
Really thinking of trading this thing in and getting into a 2014 Roush Mustang..

I agree LOL I feel bad for me too... I'm going to get my oil changed this weekend and called the Ford dealership service department which I'm good friends with. He informed me there were some new tunes out for the EcoBoost and they would hook up the computer to my truck and see what they could do free of charge.
While I'm waiting on the oil change I'll be test driving one of the '14 Mustang GT's.. After looking at craigslist I'll probably get into one of the Mustangs for about $100 a month cheaper than my truck and just buy a old beater truck for my hunting/trucking needs.

Found On Road Dominating
I too have been thinking of levelling the truck and bigger tires. I have a 2012 SCREW 145"WB (5.5') box lariat with 3.73 gears. My lifetime avg is 14.6L/100Km (16.1 US MPG) this avg is with 52000Km of mostly city / rural driving. Most of these Km are short trips. Most of my long trips I travel 110 km/Hr (68.35) through New Brunswick (Canada; next to Maine). The best trip I avg 8km / L or 18.1 MPG; this was a trip from Houlton ME to Portland ME and Rtn. 95% highway.
Given that I have LT 275/65/18 Wrangler AT/S (stock) tires, lariat that is a little havier, 3.73 gears, live in a hilly area, travel into a head wind 50% of the time live in Canada where we have cold winters and burn 87 octane with 10% ethanol I'm satisfied with this ecoboost. Yes I realize it's not getting the advertised fuel economy but they didn't test my truck to how when where I do my driving. We all know that the testing is done in the best conditions. If I do decide to lift and apply large tires I'll buy lighter composite rims and lighter composite rubber and live with the fact that this "cool factor" will cost me more. Just my thoughts and perhaps a reality check for others.
