I have towed with my 2011 Eco over some 10,000' passes alot with a 6,600lb trailer and tall 3;31 gears lots of power all the way. I can leave all stock gas v8s behind. mine has 90,000 miles on it now and love it I will dive it till I wear it out and buy another no question. and without a trailer it is a HOT rod. google Eco VS Hemmi watch the little eco beat the big Hemi.

I recently put a "Tune" on mine and I did notice not so much the extra power but the quicker response, smoother acceleration, better gearshifts. My mileage did go up very slightly by 1 MPG. The downside is that when I slow from highway cruise to "Town speed" the electric fan kicks on....all the way on. I don't seem to have a temperature problem, but I guess it does the fan trick to keep it ready for the high performance mode. I have had a sudden increase in miles on the vehicle, I was averaging less than 700 miles a month and now I am over 2000 a month with lots of two lane miles. The ability to kick down and get around a slower vehicle in a shorter distance and time is a real boon. But this is all too new to me to really make a good assessment.

Finally somebody who speaks me language! 90,000 miles. Not nary of this, "I've got 33,000 trouble free miles on my blah, blah, blah" mess. Of course you (not you personally) have 33,000 trouble free miles. Heck, a Yugo would about go that far!

Thanks Eco! That's the kind of review I wanted to see. Somebody with some REAL miles on ye Ecoboost.

Got my Eco-beast 3 months ago and haven't looked back! I love this truck. Mpg isn't what I thought it would be but overall a amazing truck. It's really hard to find a cat-back exhaust but I found a 4 inch Heartthrob and it sounds great! As far as throttle response to me yeah it lags a little but when it grabs boyyy you better hang on esp if you know where the power band is.

Towing is by far best I have ever seen! Tugged my bass boat like a marshmallow on a string, hauled a 05 GT mustang on a mowing trailer, no problem for the ecoboost.

Took out my turbo silencers 2 days ago and it made the turbo whine, spool up and BOV louder. The only thing that really bugs me is the shift points. If you have it in tow/haul it shifts like a normal vehicle but it regular driving it's pretty low in rpms. I guess that's just mpg at work who knows.

I'd like to instal a Evolution programmer as I do a lot of towing and it fun to blow little civics away at red lights haha all and all a absolute fine piece of machinery

Going on 3yrs of ownership with 41,000 miles without a single problem. I absolutely love this truck! I tow a 7500lb travel trailer without any issues. With the cruise set between 60-65mph I average 10mpg towing and have more than enough power to climb any hill. It climbs most hills in 5th gear at 2200 rpms. To me there is nothing more relaxing being able to tow up steep grades not having to listen to an engine rev to the moon to get the job done. Especially at higher elevations....

In my opinion the Ecoboost would be your best choice!

We're looking at doing the 3 truck fleet change over to the 2.7L.. Just can't turn away from the engine design with the exhaust all fit as one assembly with the head. It's Gotta be a win/win.

The EB reaches peak torque much earlier than the NA V8's. Most folks are going to generally be in the 2000-2800 rpm range on a hard pull instead of above 4000 RPM that is needed to reach peak torque with a NA engine. And torque is what gets one over the hill. I get a chuckle when TV ads and such make claims about "more torque than anything in it's class" from the major OEM's. My first question is "yeah, but at what engine RPM?" If I can have all of the available torque in the 2000-3000 rpm range, essentially where I am doing all my driving, that is better than having to rev the engine 2/3 the way to red line to finally get to peak torque.

Default How good is the EcoBoost engine?

Interesting stuff to read. Had my Eco nearly 3 years with 75k on it. Changed plugs recently but haven't noticed much difference. Been running 33"s on it for 30k and it's been good. Lots off power, but like others state will lag 1/2 second but the gets after it. Would like to put a tune in it to check out what it can really do.

Will climb up to 9-10k in the winter and tons of power rolling up the hwy hills.
