Default Post towing turbo cool down time.

After towing, I always let my turbos cool by idling the truck for at least 5 minutes. This always helped my diesel turbos last (trucks and boat) and I'm sure it is the same for EB. You don't want the oil to stop flowing and sit in a blistering hot turbo and cook.

Remote start helps in this new truck. I can get out and let her cool down for 15 minutes without any worries.

I won't be doing that with the ecoboost.

From what I understand it isn't needed. The turbos are cooled by coolant are they not?

Still a good idea to let them cool down.
I always do that when coming off a highway and I will do that for a longer period of time when pulling a trailer in a couple of weeks.

It's a good practice on any turbo engine that works hard. A couple of minutes is all it take with these.

The ecoboost don't have the coaking problem, because they keep running oil threw the turbos so you don't have to worry about cool down before you shut the Engine off. but after towing up a steep grade if I were to stop at the top I would probably let ti cool for a minute just for the hell of it. but normal driving I shut it down right away. I have 120,000 miles on my 2011 Eco with a lot of towing with a 7,000Lb trailer and it is running like new. and I trust the new system to do it's job. and it hasn't let me down. If you look there are almust no turbo problems with the Eco's.
