You guys a-okay. This is a normal operation that happens all the time, you can hardly hear it on the stock truck though. With an Airaid or Injen intake on these ecoboost trucks its going to amplify the sound as they are open element system.

The Bully Dog tuner that ecoboost_2011 put on upped the boost a bit which explains his amplified noise.

another thing is that the BOV from the turbos vents to the intake instead of to atmosphere to keep it quiet, so this will also add noise. My airaid has done the pop since day one, and from what I've heard on here its ok!

Same noise on my ASE Stage 2 intake; pop noise. I figured it was my blow off valve due to the sound and when it makes it noise. I will put my belief in TAP and hope no long term affects come out of this.

We've got some customers with well over 50,000 miles on their trucks in 3 years who have been running intake & handheld tuners with no problems what so ever. I wouldn't worry much about bolt on items like intakes, exhausts, blow off valves and stuff. Its when you start changing the tunes and boost levels things become a bit more tricky.

Default Muffled pop

I carried my 2011 Eco-Boost F150 in after hearing this faint pop when slowly accelerating 45-55mph. They kept it for 7 days and said they had never heard of this issue. They asked me to bring it back when their engineer comes by. They said his visits are not as frequent as in the past. This sound is something that bothers me but they as of yet have been unsuccessful in finding the issue.

Hey everyone I have a 2012 fx4 ecoboost. I just installed a afe cold air intake stage 2. The first week things were great. This last week my truck has been making this annoying poping noise similar to the one you guys are describing. How can I fix this or should I just ignore it or put the stock one back on.

You can ignore it if you choose.

If you don't mind it, let it be, if it bothers you put the stock one back on.

Hey do you guys think a aftermarket BOV would help? I converted my stock BOV to vent to atmosphere and when I'm on the gas and let off for a second and get back on it I hear the pop sound too. Stock intake just a 4 inch Heartthrob exhaust. I took my turbo silencers out but that had no effect on it. What do you guys think?

The pop happens with any aftermarket intake I think. My Airaid does that too, it does it with the stock intake you just can't hear it because of the enclosed filter.

Dang that's a bummer because I was thinking about installing a stage 2 intake but I don't wanna hear the popping/thump sound. I honestly don't even know if installing a aftermarket BOV would fix it
