Restore rims?
My old F150 has some 35-10.5 tires currently still in great shape. Unfortunately, the rims are fairly rusted with surface rust, and look awful. I want to remove the tires from the rims, restore the rims, and put the tires back on.
Sound like a feasible option, or should I just buy some new rims, and have the tires mounted to the new rims?

Here is one of the rims. All surface rust, no other issue besides the rust causing a slow air leak in one of the tires. I want to completely restore all of them and then have the tires remounted on the rims. Will that hurt the tires in any way, and can I just go to any place like Wal-Mart to have the tires removed and remounted?

Thanks for the tips guys. It's really not so much the actual restoration that I'm concerned about, it's the idea of taking the tires off temporarily, and then restoring the rims. Is that a viable option, and will removing the tires weaken them in any way?
Also where can I go to have them removed and remounted?

It shouldn't hurt the tires at all unless whoever removes them tears the bead off...and I wouldn't recommend wal-mart try a auto shop and just let them know that you are going to remount them so they can mark where the valve stem is and put a # on each tire and wheel...that way you won't have to pay and have them balanced. Hope that helps!

why would removing the tires from the rim hurt them? If they arent pliable enough to withstand removal I surely wouldnt drive down the highway on them!!! Best to find out at tire shop than at 60+mph on highway!!!
