Having re-read this article in preparation of doing the front wheels, what is most impressive is how bald the tire in the first picture is. Props Sean. That's value for money.

Or were you laying patches that morning?

I think I was stretching the miles on those tires while I was looking for a set of 31s that are on there now. Either that or it was one of my "temporary" tires.

very nice, ive always ran duct tape around the lip of my wheels. then used a tire shine or dish soap and water and the tires usually slip on and off pretty easy. im talking about the front side(tape) to protect and helps to slide on and off. if you do that make sure you take the tape off before you air the tire up. just another idea to help make it a little easier. i just recently demounted 8 wheels and mounted 4 wheels for nothing, and they wanted to charge me 120 bucks! good write up!

Just one question, how do you set the bead on the newly mounted tire, thats where my problems usually start. I get the tire on, but can't get the bead to pop. Any advice?

ive ran into this a few times. i just ran a rachet strap around the tire, cranked it a few times and it worked. ive also got away with just using my knee and pushing down on the tire while i was putting air in it. hope that works for ya!
