What is so weak about the M5OD? They have nearly the same torque capacity as a World Class T5. The issue they die from is missing fill plugs on top. Put metal ones in and don't shift it like a slick shifting light duty 5 speed and it will be fine, especially behind the 302 in these trucks.

Then why have a 5 speed If you can't bang gears.
I have an 85 F150 short bed that i would like to put in a long block from my mustang and was wondering what my 5 speed options were myself.
Ram has a new hydrolic throw out bearing that might be able to be used in conjuntion with a t5.

Have fun with shifter location.
I railed the snot out of the M5OD behind a 300 and a 4 liter Ranger. The Ranger went rock crawling and was often used to drag fork lifts out of mud pits....often by doing 2000rpm clutch drops in 4hi.....never an issue. Also, the hurts shifter cleans up M5OD shifting quite a bit.
A T5 WILL get destroyed behind anything with power in a 4000lb truck. Hell, I broke one in a 300rwhp SVO Mustang....and they have zero low end hit.

where do you find the shifter? after 240,000 miles I only had to replace shift forks in my mazda tranny. not bad behind a 5.o haulin and towing a camper and typical truck stuff.
