Wiring Diagram for Ford 1996 F-150 with 4.9 L Straight 6
My ignition switch is broken out of my steering column and i have to turn the actuator using a screw driver so instead of getting a new steering column I would like to know how to wire a push button and toggle switch setup and if I can do it using only one toggle switch and one push button. Or if anyone has any better ideas. I need to know the wiring diagram for the actual switch relay under the column and how to wire these switches. So please help.

why not just buy a 16 dollar ingition switch? orillys sells them and the keys even have a ford emblem and script on the black plastic??

I have the same truck ('96 F150 4.9L) and have the very same question. My truck was stolen (and wrecked) and the ignition switch was broken out in the process. I have the actuator gear jb welded to the end of an old screw driver which allows me to currently turn it into the run position however the teeth towards the back are worn off and it's very difficult/almost impossible to to start it this way so at this point it's a matter of opening the hood and starting it with a screw driver on the solenoid.
This truck will never be a daily driver but I would like to make it a bit less of a hassle to start (maybe even install a toggle switch or two to replace all key switch functionality).
Steering column replacementss I've seen are $250-$500, a push button switch is only a couple dollars. If anyone could help it would be very much appreciated!
If all else fails I could always run wires from the solenoid in to under the dash but I'd rather do it from under dash existing wiring.

Seriously, where do you live? Are there not any pull-a-parts yards around you?
