White watery goop from filler cap vent hose
Hello everyone here at the F150 Forums. I have recently picked up a 92 F150 flairside 4x4 and am very happy with my new purchase. I have started tuning up the 302 and have noticed a lot of condensation in the air filter housing. Seems that it is coming up through the vent tube that is attached to the oil fill hole. Truck runs fine, a little rough, but nothing that plugs/wires/cap/and rotor shouldn't take care of. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what would be causing this sludge to be entering the filter housing. I picked up a pcv valve today and will be changing that out in the morning. I would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks

that exactly what was going on with my truck. on mine, it was blowback smoke. 500 miles after i bought it, 2 dead cylinders. might not be your case though. dont want to scare you

i think i know where JCMS is headed with this, i would suspect a head gasket leak. if the oil has kinda milky spots in it or if its really the wrong kind of brown ( light brown and thick) that would mean you have antifreeze/water in your oil, which would cause it to run badly

The oil looks fine Sean. Brown, no signs of goop in the crank case. Since I just got the truck I am going to change the oil/filter, clean out the vent hose and air filter area and wait and see I guess.

mine ran kinda rough, would stall at stop lights sometimes. and while you change out the oil, put some seafoam in the crankcase about 100 miles before you change it out. thatll help clean it out more

If you PCV valve was bad, or if you have excess blowby than you would get the excess into your air box. The condensation, white gunk, if not excessive is normal for wet cold conditions.

was the goop also under the oil filler cap, if so i see that a lot on cars and trucks especially dodges who start there cars up and go right away with out letting them run for a minute. The oil forms a yellowish goop and usually collects under the filler cap, if thats the case change the oil and filter and clean out the tube and any other places you can and remmeber to let it warm up for a minute before taking off
