Default Are we all having a great and Glorious Day?

Hmm...... Where to start? My brakes were making noise everytime i applied my brakes so i went to my fathers shop of choice where they told me my original calipers needed to be replaced. The Pass side you couldnt even turn the rotor. So i got them replaced for $275 then for $30 i put a new serpitine belt on. So im pulling out of the shop and the truck starts making a grinding noise that comes and goes. It was my alternator which wasnt giving me probs before i got to the shop. Anyways im on my way home which is the other side of town from where im at and my truck starts making a knocking sound, Needless to say i pulled over immediately and shut the engine off. The black bomber ate a rib or two off that nice lovely new belt. Everything was fine and nothing was seized, however the alternater was turning a little rough "Bearings" So after having my dad bring my set of tools from the other side of town and getting the belt back on, It turns as if it had a dead battery, so a jump later it running, it at least made it home, i turned it off and tried to start it and sure enough it didn't. So another $131 is going to have to be thrown at it and the kicker..... I have an interview at 10 in the morning...........

So i would just like to say that i hope everyone else's day is going better than mine

did they route the serpentine correctly? It's possible they just goofed up and installed it wrong. That could make for some weird noises and spinning the alternator backwards could have pissed off your bearings.

The only time that happened to me, I didn't press the pully on a power steering pump far enough onto the shaft during a changeout. I'm thinking bearing wobble w/ the alternator pully? A couple degrees in angle, add a pinch of extra drag & your shredding rubber! Last time that happened, I thought the cat climbed up into the engine compartment again and walked off the front of the block at 60 mph. Every time the Cat's gone for more than a couple of hours I get, "Where's JUNIOR!" Like I'm the missing piece of the puzzle! I was actually relieved it was the Serpintine.

Had that happen to my neighbors Huge 2500 Surburban it was not a nice site having to pull a cat out of a fan because it decided to sleep in the raditor shroud......

They said my bearings are also going out on my h20 pump which after putting the belt on last night was a little of skew of the pully but none the less it got me home way the hell across town

Be careful with those water pumps. Thats how the guy that had my truck before me killed his motor. He ignored it and it went out on him and shot the fan through the radiator, lost all the coolant and the cylinders welded themselves to the block. Sucked for him, but now I have an 89 with only like 70k on it.

The weep hole does not always leak when a waterpump is failing. Congratulations on actually getting an interview...alot of us unemployed's aren't getting even that!
