Default Where does the oil dip stick tube go?

So, previous owner broke the dip stick or whatever and made a custom one. The tube now goes down to the pan and it's leaking like crazy where the tube enters the pan, its sealed with some play dough looking stuff.

1988 F-150 XLT 302 engine, AOD

I got a new oil pan and i'm wondering where the oil dip stick tube is supposed to go. Is it even supposed to go in to the pan from the side? If so, should the tube be welded to the pan? THis pan doesnt ave any holes or so for the dip stick tube... Gues i'll have to get a new tube as well anywyas.

Also, how do i tell what gasket i should have? and what about the rear and front seal?
