Are the impossiable to buy any where besides ordering them from the ford dealership? Was just gonna yank them out the junk yard, but seems everyone has issues with them, but after hours of searching and phone calls no one seems to be able to get them, any ideas?

Ray, first thing you want to do is check the fuses,if all is ok there,
uncouple the electric connection to the shift motor. If it is corroded
or wet, clean and dry it and apply a liberal blob of dielectric grease.
The shift motor is mounted on the transfer case.

Ok, now you're ready to see if it will shift into 4x4. If it still wont
shift, then you may have to replace the shift motor,or your switch
could be bad.

I've never had a switch go bad myself, but I've had problems with the
shift motor and its connections.

As far as I know there is no solenoid for your 4x4.
