When did F150 get passenger side airbags?
I have a 1 month old at home. Normally he rides in the back of the prius, but there may be unavoidable situations in the future when he'll have to ride in the truck. I'm fairly certain that the F150 didn't get a passenger airbag until the late 90's, but I want to be 100% sure that there isn't one in my truck before I ever put him in there with his carseat. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

you are correct, ford didn't offer passenger side air bags in their trucks until the 97 model year so your safe

I don't think '96 and before had the passenger side air bag, but I don't know for sure. If there's a passenger side air bag, they are usually marked. It will say SRS (supplemental restraint system) somewhere on the passenger side. You should see a space where the air bag would be, usually the glove box has to be low because the air bag is on top. There will be a warning on the passenger side sun visor telling you the dangers of putting children in the front seat with an air bag.

Yeah, no warning and no SRS noted on the passenger side. I just wanted to confirm what I already suspected to be the case. I'm just glad junior will be able to ride with me if I should need to go somewhere in the truck and mommy isn't home. Thanks again peeps.

I felt the same way until I drove one. You wouldn't believe how much room there is in a car that gets 50+mpg.

my truck is a 96 and it just has the driver side airbag on the steering wheel.... no passenger side airbag.... they put the passenger side airbag on the 97-present....
