Default What size bolts hold the thermostat housing on?

What size socket do I need to remove the thermostat housing from my 1993 5.0?

It's a 13mm. I've replaced it once. In Ford terms, it might be a 1/2 since it seems that some bolts are metric and some are SAE. The 2 are interchangeable, but there is a slight difference in size. Go with whichever one has the best fit.

Yeah I found out last night thanks a 13 mm will fit as well. I also found out BE CAREFUL the thermostat doesn't fall out of the housing when you put it in. Coolant tends to kinda gush everywhere when the thermostat is between the seal and the housing not in the seat and kinda makes you have to do it twice.

Mine was a 13 mm, I used super glue to hold in my themostat while installing it. The heat will break down the super glue into microscopic particles that will not bind to anything.

1993 Ford F150

I was changing mine today and half way through 2nd bolt it made sound. Looks like threads messed up in the middle of the bolt? what size tap and driver is it?

Hopefully one of these sizes from the 15.00 dollar kit at Can Tire

6NC32, 8NC32, 10NC24, M3X0.5, M4X0.7, M5X0.8
