Starter Solenoid
Hey guys, I bought this truck back in June and I'm new to all of this so I hope this is the right place to post. One of the problems I've had since buying it is that it wouldn't start on the first try. I would turn the ignition and it would crank forever but it wouldn't start. I would turn the ignition off and try it again and the truck would start right up. I did some research and one of the "tricks" I read about was to turn the ignition to the ON position 5 times before finally starting the truck. This worked and lead me to believe the fuel pump was going bad, except i had the same problem for both tanks, so maybe both fuel pumps were bad? Anyway, i looked a little further into it and someone suggested the starter solenoid. I replaced that today for $21 and it took me all of about 20 minutes. Now the truck starts right up on the first try.

Welcome nice truck. I just got mine a month or so ago, an first thing I had to replace was the starter solenoid. I have done a few minor maintenance things to make it road worthy. I enjoy driving it almost daily.
I have a 6" suspension lift and 35/12.50r15's im in the process of a SAS right now with a dana 44 out of a 79. im using coild spring set up for now but when summer rolls around im puting 1 ton leaf spring suspension up front and a powerstroke in it. The rims are some aluminum american racing offset. Little overkill for a simple question though.
Wow really 35's I didn't think they were that big lol. I do like the look of it though. I been thinking about a 2.5" leveling kit an some 33's. Right now mine has some 265's on it an is bone stock.
Put new striker bushing on the doors today. I know nothing big but so nice not to have the doors rattle anymore. Also replaced the power steering cap the old one was warn out an kept coming loose.

Pulled off the new calipers and exchanged for new ones with new crush washers and still leaking. WTF The only thing I haven't changed is the banjo bolts and I am going to replace them but WTF would cause a banjo bolt to go bad. I am the original owner so I know the banjo bolts are original and they didn't leak before.

Just replaced engine mounts, oil pan gasket, and oil pump last weekend. It didn't need the pump but if i was going to be there I was going to replace it! Now onto my rear main.
