1995 F150 Vibration around 1200RPM
Hi everyone,
My F150 is a 1995 302 V8 Automatic 2-wheel drive with 110,000 miles.
The transmission started slipping so I pulled it out to have rebuilt. While it was out I noticed numerous engine oil leaks so removed the engine to do the gaskets and seals.
Replaced the seals, gaskets, radiator, water pump, spark plugs, timing chain and engine mounts then re-installed.
Once back together I noticed a vibration around 1200RPM that is only noticeable when in park / neutral and can't be felt when driving.
It comes on around 800 RPM and goes away around 1400 RPM, it is most noticeable when idling at a cold start.
I thought it was a misfire so replaced spark plug leads, distributor and cap but no change. (Have checked the timing multiple times)
Noticed a slight wobble in the harmonic balancer when running so replaced this but again with no change.
No engine light was coming up but scanned the ECU and got KOEO codes for the knock sensor and MAF sensor, replaced both, knock sensor code went away but the MAF sensor made things worse (Cheap Rock Auto MAF).
Have removed the accessory belt and run engine without it, issue still remains.
Not sure where to go from here thinking it could be a burnt valve or broken valve spring, so I'll try to get a compression tester.
The torque converter was also rebuilt with the transmission, could this be out of balance?
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Note - I'm from New Zealand so parts are hard to come by, all have been ordered from Rock Auto and shipped internationally.
