What is "1 piece fuel pump eccentric"
Hi guys,
This has to do with my timing chain. I emailed Coyles and they said, yes, this part will fit your '95 XL. Even though online stores say it doesn't. Online says it is for an XLT
Just want to learn the differences. Here's the email sent back to me:
Yes, the C-3057X set works on any Ford small block from 1962-2001 as long as you are not running a 1 piece fuel pump eccentric. Since that 1995 truck has an electric fuel pump it will work just fine.
Not sure where those parts are in my truck? What is the difference between a 1 piece fuel pump eccentric and an electric fuel pump? And how can I tell either visually or...?
So mine is 95 XL 302 vin N

The eccentric is part of a mechanical fuel pump system that your truck doesn't have. Your fuel pumps are electrical and are located inside the tanks.

Great!! So some of the better timing chain have dual sprockets. Does this make it "better". I will not be peeling out or hauling, just a daily. Will these last longer? Mechanic said "sometimes the dual sprocket hits the timing cover and I have to grind [something something, not sure what he said]
Or just get the basic heavy single sprocket type. Both are about the same price on RockAuto.
