Default Went over a speed bump and it felt like the drive shaft fell off.

This is my 95 stick shift XL. The drive shaft did not fall off but now I have like a high pich grinding noise at over 60 mph, also when coasting. I had a visual inspection under the car and all seems normal. Any ideas?

Am trying to come up with possibilities! Could you have broken a motor mount? Its a little hard to torque the engine with a standard trans, so I guess you should use a jack and lift up the engine. If it goes up easily you found your problem. There are two motor mounts and one tranny mount. Good luck and keep us posted.

Might have messed up the center driveshaft support.

Does it do it in any gear? What about neutral? Does it sound different when coasting and under load? If you have to get to 60 MPH to hear the noise the speed bump might not have anything to do with it, but definitely check the center support bearing. Take a good look, mine separated from the rubber and I didn't notice until I saw the yoke jammed up against the tranny.

Default Thank you all

Thank you guys, I will definitely check the center shaft support ( will let apro do it for me) and post the results here for further reference. Your help is greatly appreciated.
